FRANKIE SAYS...
At the time of writing, the transfer deadline is fast approaching and we are still hoping to bring in one or two players. I feel that we need to have as much competition for places as possible.

I am really pleased with our start to the season - our hectic pre-season match schedule has worked. We have been sharper and fitter than any team we have faced thus far.  It will be a really tough game on Saturday at home to Dergview. I guess we are the underdogs, as they did finish above us last year.

We will continue to work hard at our systems, game plans and set pieces as we aim for a top two finish.

A big thank you to the supporters who travelled to our matches in July and August. I appreciate that it was tough at times, but winning games when it matters makes all the preparation and effort worthwhile.

News  The late John Parke

On behalf of all connected with the Club, Directors of Bangor FC would like to convey their condolences to the family of John Parke who died recently.

John, who played for full-back Linfield and Sunderland was a resident of Bangor and in recent years was a frequent attendee of Bangor FC matches at Clandeboye.  He was an international team mate of George Best and had been ill for some time, an illness he suffered with dignity.

John had recently been made a life member of Bangor FC and his presence at matches will be sorely missed. His funeral will take place from St. Andrews church opposite Clandeboye Park on Wednesday, 31 August 2011 at 11:00 am.

May he Rest in Peace.

News  Ryan Mann - on the scoresheet

LISBURN RANGERS 0-8 BANGOR
Bangor cruised into the next round of the Steel & Sons Cup this afternoon with an emphatic 8[Eight]-0 victory over Lisburn Rangers at Stanley Park.

Andy Morrow opened the scoring with a cool finish in the opening attack of the game. Morrow added a second and Gary Rafferty later made it 3-0 to the Seasiders before the break.

Bangor didn't ease off in the second half, and Ben Browne found  the net shortly after the break. Collector's item goals from Ryan Mann and Johnny Watterson followed soon after before an Rangers own goal gifted Bangor their seventh. Substitute Marc O'Gormley coolly rounded the Rangers 'keeper to finish off the scoring.

The game had an unfortunate ending, with an horrific head injury to a Lisburn Rangers defender. After receiving 40 minutes of medical treatment on the pitch, the player was taken away by ambulance. We wish him a very speedy recovery.

Bangor will now face holders H&W Welders in the 3rd Round of the Paddy Power Steel & Sons Cup on Saturday 10th September at Tillysburn.

News  A win at the Welders

H&W WELDERS v BANGOR (Tillysburn, Championship 1)
Bangor recorded an excellent win over the Welders at Tillysburn this afternoon.

Andy Morrow was hauled down by William Armstrong when clean through on goal midway through the first half - an incident which saw Amstrong dismissed. Unfortunately, Ben Browne blasted the resultant penalty well over the Welders crossbar. With the Welders down to 10 men, Bangor pressed forward and Gary Rafferty reacted quickly to deflect a Welders clearance into the top corner of the net to give the Seasiders a vital lead.

Bangor seemed happy to sit on their lead in a very scrappy second half. Ben Browne grabbed Bangor's second in the 82nd minute when he coolly slotted past Dougherty when clean through on goal.

ARDS RANGERS v BANGOR (Drome Park, Steel & Sons Cup Round 1)
A single Andy Morrow strike midway through the first half was enough to see Bangor through to the next round of the Steel & Sons Cup in a tough encounter with Ards Rangers at Drome Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Seasiders were wasteful in front of goal for much of the afternoon while 'keeper Paul Cairnduff had to make a string of fine saves in order to keep the Ards Rangers strike force at bay.

Ryan Murray came closest for Bangor with a well-struck second half free-kick which struck the Rangers upright.
