15th Dec 2008 RESERVES FIGHT BACK TO EARN A POINT News
Bangor Reserves recorded an encouraging 3-3 draw with Linfield Swifts at Midgley Park on Saturday.

Bangor trailed 2-0 at half-time, but got back into the game when Gary Sharratt hit home a penalty kick. All seemed lost however when Linfield took a 3-1 lead just after the hour mark.  In the 80th minute, Ryan Tumelty produced  a wonder goal. He picked up the ball just inside his own half and then evaded 4 challenges before slotting home to make it 3-2. Bangor pressed for an equaliser and were rewarded for their efforts in stoppage time when Billy Youle fired home a Ryan Tumelty pass.

JB’s View:
"I felt we fully deserved a draw from the game. The boys showed good character to keep working even when the game seemed to be beyond them. Ryan Tumelty's goal is as good a goal you are ever likely to see and this gave us a massive lift. I have been preaching to them for weeks that they need to show more belief in themselves and it was good to see them do that. Stephen Whiteside and Timmy Ritchie were excellent in defence, as was Michael Hunter in midfield."

Team: Brown, Graham, Ritchie, Whiteside, Whitford, Mann, Coyle, Hunter, McCormick, Sharratt, R Tumelty. Subs: T Tumelty, Rosson, Youle, Morton, Bryson

8th Dec 2008 RESERVES REPORT News
The Reserves filled their free Saturday with two friendly games. They played Bangor Rangers Under 19s in the morning followed by a game against Bryansburn Rangers in the afternoon.

Two goals from Gary Sharratt saw the Reserves come from behind to defeat a spirited Bangor Rangers Under 19 team 2-1. Best for Bangor were Michael Hunter and Gary Sharratt.

In the afternoon first team squad players Ryan Brown, Nigel Boyd and Gary Fitzpatrick were included in the game against Bryansburn. Bangor dominated the first half but failed to make the most of the chances they created with the teams going in level at half time. Changes made at half time seem to disrupt Bangor and Bryansburn provided more of a threat in the second half and they were on top for long periods creating several good openings from which they took the lead twice only to be pegged back twice with another 2 quality strikes from Gary Sharratt. Best for Bangor was Ryan Mann.

The Reserves are scheduled to play Linfield Swifts this Saturday at Midgley Park with a 2:00pm kick off.
