 BANGOR F.C. - MATCH REPORT

H&W WELDERS 0 - 2 BANGOR

CARNEGIE FIRST DIVISION
Match Report by Neil Watson
Saturday 7th October 2006

Welders Bangor got their league campaign off to a fine start with a deserved win over H&W Welders at a blustery Tillysburn. Second half goals from Kenny Camlin and David Irvine were enough for the visitors to record the first opening league win in 8 years.

Kenny Camlin was first to have an effort on goal after 9 minutes. The forward latched onto a Morrow flick before curling a shot towards goal from 20 yards which Andrew Fox had to parry away at full stretch.

3 minutes later, Camlin thumped his 20-yard free kick off the crossbar with Andrew Fox struggling.

Bangor had another chance after 18 minutes when Fox missed Brian Hylands’ cross from the left. Fortunately for the former-Bangor ‘keeper, Youle’s header fell just wide of the right hand post.

The Welders had their best chance of the half after 25 minutes. A long-range free kick was deflected into the path of Marc Roy, but his shot was superbly saved by Ryan Brown 1 low to his right.

Andy Forsythe Half-time: 0 – 0

Bangor found the break through after 50 minutes. After being awarded a free kick 25 yards from goal, Kenny Camlin neatly hammered the ball into the bottom left hand corner of the goal with Fox rooted to the spot.

The home side threatened to level the score after 68 minutes. David Wright evaded the Bangor defence for a moment, but under pressure from Munn, Wright poked his shot wide from 10 yards.

With time running out, the Welders began to force a number of corner kicks and throw-ins deep in Bangor territory. From one such throw-in, substitute Ryan Davidson saw his overhead kick saved comfortably by Ryan Brown 1.

Bangor sealed the victory 2 minutes from time. John Bailie and Billy Youle combined on the right before Youle pulled the ball back towards Irvine. The former-Welders player remained composed to hit the ball home high into the net past the helpless Fox.
